Your MPhA Public Affairs Committee continues to follow a number of bills at the legislature on a daily basis and numerous member volunteers are actively participating in hearings and meetings at the Capitol. Here is where things stand with 10 days remaining until adjournment:
HF 1659/SF 1765 (Expand pharmacist immunization authority/increase technician ratios): Language is included in House HHS omnibus bill. Stand-alone bill with similar language is on the Senate floor, awaiting a vote. The Senate unanimously passed a bill with language that unfortunately includes boosters only to those age 13 and older. We prefer the House language. With the fate of policy-only provisions of the omnibus bill somewhat in question, we explored, to no avail, the possibility of amending the Senate-passed language onto another house bill. It appears our best strategy remains to fight for inclusion in the final HHS omnibus bill.
HF 1652/SF 1440 PMP legislation: House HHS Finance Committee declined an amendment to include this legislation in the HHS omnibus bill, leaving virtually no track to proceed in the House. It has passed the HHS policy and the Judiciary committees in the Senate and has been referred to Senate Rules. We are not sure of the track from there.
HF 1587/SF 1530 Patient Choice of Pharmacy: No action has occurred in the house. Language is included in Senate HHS omnibus bill. Estimate of cost to the State is undetermined. Efforts continue to include the Senate language in the final omnibus bill.
HF 1503/SF 1425 Pharmaceutical Waste Disposal: There has been no action in the House. Language is on the Senate floor, awaiting a vote.
