MPhA member Steve Schondelmeyer’s 25 years as the Century Mortar Club endowed chair and his tremendous contributions to health care through the PRIME Institute were honored on October 21 with a day-long symposium, “Advancing Action on Access & Affordability of Pharmaceuticals & Pharmacists Services.” National health care leaders and policymakers presented on a wide range of issues related to access and affordability — including Leigh Purvis, AARP’s Public Policy Institute Director of Health Services Research, and John Coster, CMS’s Director of Pharmacy Programs. The day ended with a panel discussion facilitated by MPhA member Brian Isetts and including Steve Simenson, Goodrich Pharmacies; Bateena Black, Executive Director Emeritus of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association; Tom Menighan, CEO of the American Pharmacists Association; and Phil Burgess, President of Phil Burgess, LLC. They addressed the value of pharmacists’ services to patient care and future opportunities. Numerous MPhA Board and Committee members participated in the event.
