MPhA Seeks Nominations for Board Member Positions

Serving on the MPhA Board of Directors is an opportunity to provide leadership and direction to the association as we strive to meet our mission: Serving Minnesota pharmacists to advance patient care. With health reform implementation rapidly underway and creating bridges across various health care settings, it is a very exciting time to be at the table to discuss the changes that are occurring and help chart the course for the profession.

The MPhA Board of Directors consists of fifteen (15) voting positions. Five of these are members of the Executive Committee. The remainder include two Rural Pharmacist positions, two Metro Pharmacist positions, five At-Large Pharmacist positions, and two Student positions (one from each campus, with a shared vote). There are also several non-voting ex-officio positions including MPhA staff, a College of Pharmacy representative, the Vice Speaker of the House, a pharmacy technician and representatives from organizations recognized by the Board as associates (the Minnesota chapter of American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, the Minnesota College of Clinical Pharmacists, and the Minnesota Society of Health Systems Pharmacists). Staggered terms have been established so that each year several board positions are up for re-election. This means the opportunity for fresh new ideas from energetic pharmacists to participate and make a difference!

In 2016, MPhA is seeking nominees/applicants for:

  • 1 Metro Board Member Position
  • 2 Rural Board Member Positions
  • 2 At-Large Board Member Positions

Nomination Due Date: February 15, 2016
Ballots/Candidate Bios E-mailed: April 7, 2016
Ballot Due Date: April 28, 2016
Winners Notified: April 28, 2016
Results Announced: May 6, 2016
New Board Seated: June 2016

PLEASE NOTE: The terms will begin in June 2016 and end May 31, 2018.

The MPhA Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis with alternating 3-hour meetings (in person), and 1-hour meetings (via conference call). The incoming MPhA President has discretion to modify the schedule to best meet the needs of the board and the association. Board members are expected to bring issues to the board meetings on behalf of their constituencies. Board members play an important role as liaisons to committees and participate in welcoming new pharmacists to the profession.
