Join Us for the 2017 Annual Learning Networking Event and Chart Your Course for Change!

Come join your colleagues for this year’s Annual Learning Networking Event and MTM Symposium, “Charting a Course for Change.” Your peers have designed this unique event on Thursday and Friday this year and it will allow you to create an agenda for practice and professional development. You’ll be challenged to think through how you can contribute to advancing patient care when Dr. Mark Loafman, MD, MPH, explores the most significant opportunities to integrate medication management in primary care. Dr. Loafman is an Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer for Near North Community Health Center (both in the Chicago area) and serves as project lead on the Alliance for Integrated Medication Management (AIMM) collaborative. You’ll craft a plan for learning throughout the event, through interactive keynote sessions, clinical pearls, roundtables, and pharmacy management/practice and clinical topic programming in addition to the popular MTM Symposium.

MPhA’s 2017 Annual Learning Networking Event and MTM Symposium will bring together our pharmacists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, industry professionals, and leaders for two days of cutting-edge programming and networking! Meet new colleagues with similar interests and gain knowledge to advance your practice. You’ll have an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation to shape the future of pharmacy in Minnesota.

Thursday morning’s topics include clinical pearls on antibiotic use, post-bariatric surgery absorption issues and pharmacogenomics along with updates on Minnesota Medicaid and efforts to address the state’s opioid use issues. Expert colleagues will present on oral targeted chemotherapies in advanced breast cancer and treatment of acute coronary syndrome.

There will be ample time at breakfast and during the networking break and luncheon to visit with this year’s exhibitors and learn more about Minnesota’s naloxone protocol in a booth set up just for that purpose.

Thursday afternoon will kick off with Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Resident Anjoli Punjabi moderating an interactive panel on meeting community health needs through cultural competency; you’ll hear about unique practice models being deployed from Norris Anderson, MD, Medical Director at Southern Prairie Community Care. The afternoon MTM Symposium Roundtables will cover ten cutting-edge topics while the Pharmacy Practice/Management and Clinical breakout sessions will explore advancing practice by expanding the role of pharmacy technicians, building precepting skills, reviewing new LTC rules and antibiotic stewardship. These programs will give you the knowledge and skills you need to chart your course for professional and practice development. Sessions have been integrated for all attendees regardless of the role you play in practice.

You won’t want to miss Thursday’s Award Reception, where we will honor past leaders and recognize the accomplishments of many in the profession. Then you’ll enjoy catching up with colleagues and having fun raising money for student scholarships and community service activities at the Minnesota Pharmacists Foundation’s “Great Minnesota Pharmacy Get Together”, where participants will have the chance to mingle over games, share libations and heavy appetizers while raising funds for the Foundation through a raffle and wine pull. The event is included in the full event and Thursday-only registration.

Friday’s program will begin with topic-specific Breakfast Roundtables. We will then provide perspectives on what’s happening nationally in the movement toward value-based health care models and how that will impact Minnesota’s health care environment. You’ll hear an engaging program from Minnesota’s nationally-known practitioners Molly Ekstrand and Rajiv Shaw, MD, on how to build a dream health care team to achieve better patient care and meet the goals of a value-based agenda. Then hear about the cutting-edge Enhanced Part D MTM program in the Northern Plains region and learn what opportunities it presents for you and your practice. You’ll learn about Minnesota pharmacy’s advocacy agenda and how our lobbyist, Buck Humphrey, is moving it forward with many volunteer leaders. All educational offerings are designed to provide participants with information to keep abreast of innovations in practice and strategies to “chart their course for change” and move their career and practice forward. We will wrap up the day hearing from new University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy Dean Lynda Welage, PharmD, FCCP, and her vision for advancing Minnesota’s legacy in leadership.

You won’t want to miss this year’s Annual Learning Networking Event and MTM Symposium! Access MPhA’s “My Action Plan Tool” here and start mapping your course for change! You’ll be among the 300+ professionals who will come together to learn, network, share practice solutions and create new collaborations to advance practice!
