The New and Improved Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program

This webinar will focus on the MN PMP from the pharmacist’s perspective. Permissible use, reporting requirements and Controlled Substance Insight Alerts are among the items that will be discussed. The webinar will conclude with a demonstration of the new and improved MN PMP database.

Upon successful completion of this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  • Understand permissible use of the PMP from the pharmacist’s perspective per Minnesota Statute 152.126
  • Be aware of PMP reporting requirements
  • Recognize action steps upon receipt of a Controlled Substance Insight Alert
  • Better utilize and understand the new and improved Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program

Upon successful completion of this activity, pharmacy technicians should be able to:

  • Understand how to create a delegate account
  • Learn how to perform a patient query on behalf of the supervisor or pharmacist’s account
  • Better utilize and understand the new and improved Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program

Speaker

Katrina HowardKatrina Howard, PharmD

Katrina Howard works as the pharmacist consultant for the Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program within the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy. Dr. Howard currently chairs the National Association of State Controlled Substance Authorities (NASCSA) PMP Committee. Dr. Howard graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.


Registration Fees:

The cost is $25 for non-members. MPhA pharmacist members, pharmacy technician members and student members may attend at no cost.


Continuing Education:

This presentation is being submitted to the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy for Continuing Education credit approval (one hour).

To receive Board of Pharmacy credits for this program, the following must be completed:

  • Full participation/completion of webinar either during the live program or the archived presentation

  • Completion of survey post webinar acknowledging participation

Board of Pharmacy credit processing takes place on the 15th of each month.

The Minnesota Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
