Several MPhA members were present at the Board of Pharmacy’s regularly scheduled meeting on December 16, at which the Board heard testimony from many members of the public, discussed the proposed rule and adopted changes to the original language. As expected, some public testimony supported the need for rules to allow pharmacy employees to have uninterrupted rest periods and other testimony urged the Board to consider changes to the language. Dr. Wiberg indicated that the Board had received approximately 80 written comments in support of and in opposition to the rule. During the meeting, a draft document was distributed, summarizing the comments that were received, Board staff’s review of those comments and changes to the Board’s proposed rule, which the Board voted to adopt at the meeting.
It is our understanding that the next step is for the Board to publish an intent to adopt the attached language in the State Register, after which a public hearing will be scheduled before an administrative law judge. The Board will continue to accept comments on the amended rule language, addressed to Cody.Wiberg@state.mn.us until the notice of public hearing is published, after which individuals may provide written comments to the administrative law judge. Individuals may also provide testimony at the public hearing.
