From CDC website:Be Antibiotics Aware is an educational effort led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This work aims to raise awareness about the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing and use, and provides resources to help health care professionals improve antibiotic prescribing and educate their patients about when antibiotics are needed and when they’re not.
The launch of Be Antibiotics Aware coincides with the 10th Annual U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (formerly Get Smart about Antibiotics Week) which takes place from November 13-19 and is part of the global World Antibiotic Awareness Week. U.S. Antibiotics Awareness Week demonstrates the critical need to prescribe and take antibiotics only when they’re needed in order to protect patients and fight antibiotic resistance, one of the most urgent threats to the public’s health.
Antibiotics save lives, but they aren’t always the answer when you’re sick. Taking antibiotics correctly helps keep us healthy now, helps fight antibiotic resistance, and ensures that these life-saving drugs will be available for future generations. Learn more.
