Sarah DerrThe Minnesota Pharmacists Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the next executive director of the organization will be Sarah Derr, PharmD.

Sarah is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas (BS Biochemistry) and the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. She completed a University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy residency focused in ambulatory care at Fairview in 2015-2016. She completed an Executive Fellowship in Association Management with the Iowa Pharmacy Association in 2016-2017. She is currently serving as the Director, Medication Management for the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative. Dr. Derr brings experience and training in association management, a strong understanding of pharmacy practice in Minnesota, and enthusiasm for the profession of pharmacy.
The MPhA Board thanks our wonderful group of volunteer members who provided guidance in the selection process: Craig Else, Molly Ekstrand, Tim Affeldt, Lowell Anderson, Susan Chhen, Rebecca Pickler, Ernie Ruiz, Steve Simonsen and Brent Thompson. In addition, we appreciate the support and partnership provided by Becca Pryse and Bryan Mowry from Ewald.

The MPhA Board also thanks Marsha Millonig for serving as the Interim Executive Director of MPhA for the past five years. Marsha will be staying on during the transition.

Sarah expects to start in her new role in early April and looks forward to her return to Minnesota. She will attend the American Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting in March and hopes to connect with Minnesota pharmacists at this conference as well.

Marsha Millonig notes, “I am delighted to welcome Sarah back to Minnesota in this important role serving the pharmacy community. It was a privilege working with Sarah during her active involvement in MPhA as a student and new practitioner. I am excited for her new ideas and fresh outlook for the organization and look forward to working alongside her during the leadership transition. It has been a great pleasure to serve MPhA during the past five years, working with our tremendous volunteer leaders to secure solid footing for the organization.”
