Minnesota Pharmacy Practice-based Research Network

The Minnesota Pharmacy Practice-based Research Network (PBRN) Guidance and Oversight Board met on Aug. 29. This year, the board consists of: Jon Schommer, Sarah Derr, Marsha Millonig, Oscar Garza, Brian Isetts, and Val Cremin. The group discussed interest in monitoring trends in (1) the pharmacy workforce (including career pathways and staff well-being), (2) pharmacy locations and access, (3) pharmacy economics, and (4) patients' experiences with medications (such as access to pain medications).

The projects underway during 2019-2020 include:

  • An Evaluation of the Spread and Scale of PatientToc from Primary Care to Community Pharmacies for the Collection of Patient Reported Outcomes (Funded by AHRQ 2019-2022), with researchers Margie Snyder, Betty Chewning, David Kreling and Jon Schommer
  • Depression and Anxiety Assessment Using PCSQ and PHQ-4 (Funded by Peters Chair in Pharmacy Practice Innovation, Chapman University, and IConnect Health, 2019-2020), with researcher Paul Tieger
  • Medication Experiences of African American Women with Chronic Kidney Disease (Funded by Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, 2019-2020), with researcher Lisa Hillman
  • Creating the First Multi-State Rural Community Pharmacy Research Network: RURAL-CP (Funded by Eshelman Institute for Innovation, 2019-2021), with researcher Delesha Carpenter
  • E-Prescribing Trends in Pharmacy, with researchers Terry Adam and Mike Lessard
