Join Us for the 2018 Annual Learning Networking Event!

Come join your colleagues for this year’s Annual Learning Networking Event and MTM Symposium, “Partnering for Population Health.” Your peers have designed this unique event on Thursday and Friday this year and it will allow you to create an agenda for practice and professional development. Brand new this year is Friday’s partnership with public health professionals exploring successful partnerships for improving population health! You’ll be challenged to think through how you can contribute to advancing patient care through two keynote sessions on Thursday when Debbie Pestka, PharmD looks at laying the foundation for what we as pharmacists do and Gena Graves from HealthPartners outlines core concepts for successful population health management. Friday’s public health partnership features a lineup of national and local speakers that will focus on improving population health through successful partnerships. Anita Patel, PharmD, MS, will outline the CDC’s emergency preparedness initiatives and how pharmacy is included in their response from a front-line pharmacist involved in medication countermeasures and pandemic preparedness.

You’ll craft a plan for learning throughout the event — through interactive keynote sessions, clinical pearls, roundtables, and pharmacy practice/management and clinical topic programming in addition to the popular MTM Symposium.

MPhA’s 2018 Annual Learning Networking Event and MTM Symposium will focus on population health, including public health partnerships. It will bring together pharmacists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, public health and industry professionals, and leaders for two days of cutting-edge programming and networking! Meet new colleagues with similar interests and gain knowledge to advance your practice. You’ll have an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation to shape the future of pharmacy in Minnesota. And you’ll map an action plan for change!

Thursday morning’s topics include clinical pearls on glucose monitoring for successful outcomes, a clinical update on proton pump inhibitors and providing transgender medication management along with updates on Minnesota Medicaid and efforts to address the state’s opioid abuse issues. Preceptors can earn their CE credit with the board through a special session on cultivating cultural competency with precepting experts from the College of Pharmacy.
There will be ample time at breakfast and during the networking break and luncheon to visit with this year’s exhibitors as well!

Thursday afternoon will kick off with a keynote from Gena Graves, who will provide an overview of population health concepts and how an integrated health system can leverage resources and effects to support the best patient experience, the best health outcomes, and the best health care cost impact. The afternoon MTM Symposium Roundtables will cover more than ten cutting-edge topics, while the Pharmacy Practice/Management and Clinical breakout sessions will explore care transitions and CMS’s new rules for skilled nursing facilities, management strategies for dementia-related behavior and an interactive OTC/Self Care Update. These programs will give you the knowledge and skills you need to chart your course for professional and practice development. Sessions have been integrated for all attendees regardless of the role you play in practice.

You won’t want to miss Thursday’s Award Reception, where we will honor past leaders and recognize the accomplishments of many in the profession.

Friday’s program is all about partnering with public health. We will begin with an important keynote from the CDC’s Anita Patel on pandemic preparedness. You’ll then learn from your colleagues in Minnesota about successful pharmacist and public health collaborations from across the state through a moderated panel. You’ll hear about a more global, all-hazards approach to public health from Damon Gorelick from Michigan, and how he used this model to utilize pharmacists during the Flint water crisis. In the afternoon, you will participate in a world café discussion about emergency response expectations and requirements based on the new MDH checklist for participating in pandemic or other emergency situations. You’ll have the chance to partner with public health and pharmacy to discuss needs and opportunities in your region. The program will conclude with an interactive table-top exercise to learn what could happen in an emergency, and what role pharmacy could play in the response. It’s all about public health professionals and pharmacists from across the state meeting each other, and building relationships to facilitate a faster response if and when disasters or emergencies occur.

You won’t want to miss this year’s Annual Learning Networking Event and MTM Symposium! Access MPhA’s “My Action Plan Tool” here and start mapping your course for change! You’ll be among the 300+ professionals who will come together to learn, network, share practice solutions and create new collaborations to advance practice!
