Why You Need the Minnesota Prescription Monitoring Program and How to Use it
In 2012, the CDC declared prescription drug abuse an epidemic. As a means to combat prescription drug abuse, the CDC recommends one of the efforts include prescription monitoring programs. The MN PMP was created as a tool to assist in the fight against prescription drug abuse, and pharmacists play an important role in that fight. In using the PMP, pharmacists can identify individuals that may be abusing, misusing, or diverting controlled substances. This ability to identify individuals enables healthcare providers to offer help and support to those who may need it most. This webinar will provide an overview of what the PMP is, under what circumstances the law allows providers to access the database, how to acquire delegates, some quick tips for system usage, and how the PMP is fighting prescription drug abuse with Controlled Substance Insight Alerts.
