The program will provide an overview of the 340B program for both covered entities and contract pharmacies. As part of the program, we will identify risks and opportunities the 340B program can provide. The information will be based on HRSA audits and current guidelines.

  2. Illustrate the mechanisms to optimize the program
  3. Evaluate the key elements of your program

Presenter: Bruce Thompson, RPh, MS

Bruce Thompson is DVP at Comprehensive Pharmacy Services and leads the consultant team with 340B activity. Over the past 30 months, Bruce and the team have assisted 16 organizations with 340B HRSA Audits, and conducted more than 150 reviews.

Bruce was a HRSA 340B Peer to Peer member for 4 years and is a 340B University faculty member.

Previously, he served as Director of Health System Pharmacy Services at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN, the largest 340B Safety Net Hospital in Minnesota. He and the pharmacy team coordinate activities with Hospital Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care, Community Pharmacies and Regional Poison Control System.

Bruce is also an Associate Graduate professor at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in Minneapolis.

Bruce has given numerous presentations and publications over his career. Recently his work has been with 340B program including program integrity, and expansion of clinical services for the patients, which include expansion of Medication Therapy programs, improving patients care with improved Medication Reconciliation and expanding the role of Pharmacy in emerging health care delivery models.

Continuing Education:

This presentation is being submitted to the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy for Continuing Education credit approval (one hour).

To receive Board of Pharmacy credits for this program the following must be completed:

  • Full participation/completion of webinar either during the live program or the archived presentation

  • Completion of survey post webinar acknowledging participation

Board of Pharmacy credit processing takes place on the 15th of each month.

The Minnesota Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
